Outpost Sunsport Donates Sculpture to The Gardens on Spring Creek in Celebration of 40th Anniversary

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012
The Gardens on Spring Creek, a public/private partnership aimed to enrich the lives of people and foster environmental stewardship through horticulture, is a proud supporter of art and artists in our community. The Gardens recently executed its third annual outdoor art exhibit, ARTiculture; Celebrating Art in the Garden. During ARTiculture, sculptures are placed throughout The Gardens on Spring Creek and are for sale to the public, with twenty percent of each sale being reinvested into the future of the program.

Randy and Nancy Morgan, owners of Outpost Sunsport, decided to purchase one of the featured sculptures, ‘Triple Aspen’, to donate back to The Gardens to keep on display year-round. “Triple Aspen,” located at the front of the entrance to The Gardens, was created by Larry Pryor out of copper, steel and stone. “I created ‘Triple Aspen’ to try to duplicate the feeling you may get when seeing the wind rustle the leaves of a small grove of trees,” said Pryor about his inspiration in creating the sculpture.

The beautiful sculpture, which would typically be taken back by the sculptor, will remain in front of the entrance of The Gardens.

“Nancy and I truly appreciate what The Gardens on Spring Creek offer to our community and we thought that it would be a really cool thing to purchase the sculpture to donate to The Gardens in celebration of Arbor Day and Outpost Sunsport’s 40th Anniversary,” said Randy Morgan, Owner of Outpost Sunsport

Spring has Sprung!

Thursday, April 12th, 2012
A.K.A closing time for the slopes.

This weekend marks the closing for several slopes in the mountains, but don’t frown- the slopes will be retiring in style!

Here’s what’s going on:

Aspen Snowmass:this weekend’s event is the Schneetag (pronounced Sch-knee Tog) on Saturday, April 14. This hilarious event in one not to miss! The 5th annual Schneetag event invites teams of four to create a craft that they will pilot down a slope at Spider Sabich and attempt to skim across a 100-ft pond…attempt. April 14 is also the official closing day at Snowmass. Join us for a celebration including live music by Jes Grew, the Budweiser Beer Garder, Kid’s Zone with a Dunk Tank, Face Painting, Food and more!

Breckenridge:the slopes will stay open for extended days through April, keep in touch to see when the last day will be. This weekend is busy one in Breck! Toots and the Maytals play Saturday, April 14. This well-known ska and reggae act is considered legends in their genre. Their Jamaican sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock.

Also on Saturday is the Beer Festival presented by KSMT. KSMT “The Mountain” presents the 6th annual Breckenridge Spring Beer Festival on Saturday, April 14 at Main Street Station Plaza. This event offers brews, views and free live music, featuring beer sampling from 25 craft brewers and live music from My Pet Dragon, Jason Spooner, and Tracksuit Wedding.

Sunday, April 15 is jammed packed with entertainment from Rusted Root- you’ve all heard their song on the Matilda sound track, “On my way.” Known for their unique fusion of acoustic, rock, world and other styles of music, with a strong percussion section that draws from African, Latin American, Native American and Indian influences will have everyone on their way to the dance floor.

Keystone:the slopes are closed…but don’t worry! There’s still fun going on in Keystone all summer long. Keystone offers biking throughout the summer. You can downhill at Keystone, taking advantage of our lift serviced mountain terrain. Or try cross-country or road biking with countless trails and miles of road outside our door. Bike rentals, helmets and safety equipment are available.

Check out the Adventure Center! The Adventure Center is located in Lakeside Village, near the Keystone Lodge. This is the center for kid’s activities, including paddle boating, kayak and canoe rentals, and fish feeding and bike rentals. There is also an indoor arcade and food facilities.

Winter Park:will be closing April 22, their new spring hours are as follows:
Weekdays 10 a.m.- 5p.m. and Weekends 9:30 a.m.- 5p.m.

Mary Jane will be closing this Sunday so get on up there!

Someone call a doctor…Colorado has spring fever! Although the snow is melting and its time to put the skis into hibernation the mountains are gearing up for a fun, active, wild spring!
